Myrtle Beach Army Air Field- Crash Boat StationThe Murrells Inlet Crash Boat Station was used to recover downed air planes and pilots off the coast of South Carolina. The Army Air Corps operated a gunnery practice range from what is now Garden City to North Litchfield Beach. The Myrtle Beach Army Airfield was the northern most post of the 3rd Army Air Force.
