General Lee and his Confederate officers in their first meeting since Appomattox, taken at White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, in August 1869, where they met to discuss "the orphaned children of the Lost Cause". Roger Craft Peace, Class of 1919, was a U.S. Senator from South Carolina. He has been named to the Hall of Fame of the South Carolina Press Association and the South Carolina Business Hall of Fame. He served on the Furman board of trustees from 1937-1947, including as chairman from 1941-1942. He is a Charter Member of the Furman University Hall of Fame.
