This picture was perhaps taken at Blatt’s fifty-seventh birthday party. Blatt (on the far right) is standing next to George Bell Timmerman, Lieutenant Governor of South Carolina from 1947 until 1955. Timmerman would later serve as Governor from 1955 until 1959. On the left, South Carolina First Lady Maude Byrnes stands next to Governor James F. Byrnes. At the time, these were perhaps the three most powerful men in the state of South Carolina.
