On her return to the surf after laying eggs, the loggerhead, turned over by the men, was stranded all night on the beach. The men noted that her back was covered with barnacles and that she was probably 150 years old. By morning, they secured a camera and took this picture.
Frank Tarbox rides a female loggerhead on her return to the sea after she laid a nest of eggs above the high tide mark. Sea turtles are a federally protected species in the 21st century.
